Lesson follow-up
Preply Insights Alternative: Turn Language Lessons into Personalized Homework with Tuto
Compare lesson follow-up workflows and see how Tuto helps you turn lesson context into practice you choose and edit.
Comparison checked on November 2, 2026. Software features and availability can change. Tuto is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Preply.
A lesson summary can remind you what happened. Preparing homework requires another decision: which part of that lesson is worth asking the learner to practise again?
If you are looking for a Preply Insights alternative, Tuto offers a lesson-to-homework workflow: capture lesson context, review what matters, choose or edit the practice, and share an individual homework link. The useful comparison starts with how you want to manage follow-up.
What teachers need after a language lesson
A conversation can cover several topics, introduce new vocabulary, and reveal a grammar pattern worth revisiting. Sending practice on everything can leave the learner with an assignment that has no clear purpose.
Before choosing a tool, consider three questions:
- What context should the homework use? The spoken conversation, your teaching notes, and a phrase written on a slide may all matter.
- What should you be able to change? A suggested activity may need a different example, clearer instructions, or a narrower focus.
- How will the learner use it? Think about opening the assignment, completing it independently, and bringing the results into your next lesson.
These questions give you a practical way to judge a workflow. A detailed report is useful when it helps you make the next teaching decision.
Where Preply Lesson Insights fits
Preply calls its feature Lesson Insights. Its official guide describes AI-generated summaries, feedback on vocabulary, grammar and speaking, and tailored exercise suggestions, produced from transcribed lesson audio. As of the comparison date, the guide lists availability for English lessons. Preply: Lesson Insights.
The feature is optional. Preply explains that a learner who enables it can still receive insights if their tutor does not; in that case, the tutor’s audio is excluded and the tutor cannot access the insights after the lesson. Preply: Lesson Insights.
Preply also documents lesson-based homework suggestions when Insights is enabled. Tutors can preview and edit activities, add material or a message, and decide whether to send them. Students complete the homework in Preply. Preply: What is homework on Preply?.
That makes Preply relevant to teachers who want follow-up within their existing Preply classroom workflow. Editable homework is part of the overlap between the products.
How Tuto turns lesson context into homework
Tuto brings lesson capture, review, and homework preparation into a workspace for language tutors. Its workflow gives you several places to apply your judgement before a learner receives an assignment.
Capture the points you want to return to
Tuto supports browser-based lesson recording and live classroom notes. You can also add images of boards, slides, or handouts and extract their text into notes.
That lets you preserve a teaching point that might be missing from the conversation alone: a contrast you wrote on the board, a useful expression from a handout, or a topic you want to revisit.
Review the lesson before choosing practice
Tuto produces a transcript and lesson review that can surface topics and selected language errors. Speaker identification may need your confirmation, and the generated review needs your attention.
Use it as a starting point. Decide which observations matter for this learner’s goals, and leave out points that would distract from the next useful step.
Choose and edit the homework
You can choose automatic or custom homework, then adjust the lesson recap, exercises, vocabulary practice, and reading before sharing.
A fictional example: an adult English learner discusses a recent trip and needs more practice forming past-simple questions. You might choose a short question-building exercise, retain a few useful travel expressions, and leave out a reading passage if it would add work without supporting the goal.
The important choice is the practice you keep. Check that the instructions are understandable, the answers fit the context, and the task reflects what you actually taught.
Share it through an individual link
Students open their Tuto homework link without creating an account. The assignment can include exercises, vocabulary practice, and reading comprehension. Their attempts are saved back to the session for you to review.
That gives you material for the next lesson: a response to discuss, an expression to use again, or a task that needs a clearer explanation.
Choose around your teaching routine
Start with the workflow you need. If you already teach within Preply, review its documented Insights and homework tools before adding another product. If you want Tuto’s combination of lesson capture, classroom notes, editable homework sections, and individual student links, try that process with one lesson.
Keep the assignment small enough to review properly. Choose one learning goal, work through the tasks yourself, and decide how you will return to them in class. Our homework review checklist offers a practical way to check generated material before sharing it.
Try Tuto with a lesson, then choose the follow-up you would be comfortable explaining to your learner.
